Access Data and Server Logs
When the website is accessed, technically necessary access data may be processed, such as IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, HTTP status, transferred data volume, referrer, and browser or system information. Processing serves delivery, stability, and security of the service.
Search Queries
Search terms, language pair, time, IP address, and technical browser information may be processed to deliver matching dictionary results, prevent abuse and spam, and provide statistical analysis. Public search does not automatically send queries to AI or cloud services.
Cookies, Tracking, and Local Storage
dict:app currently does not use analytics cookies or advertising tracking. If cookies, local storage, or comparable technologies are added later, this policy must be updated.
Google Sign-in and Learn Area
The Learn area may require signing in with a Google account. During sign-in, profile data provided by Google may be processed, in particular email address, name, Google identifier, and, if provided by Google, a profile picture. This data is used to assign a user account, provide groups, invitations, challenges, and results, and prevent abuse. The Learn area may also store groups, invitations by email address, memberships, quiz answers, challenge results, wins, losses, and ranking data. This data is stored separately from the replaceable dictionary content in a dedicated user database.
AI-generated Example Data
Some example sentences or dictionary data may have been generated or checked offline with AI systems. Normal website search does not automatically transfer queries to those systems.
Data Sources
The dictionary may contain data from public or licensed sources, specialist vocabularies, and curated imports. Personal data is not intended to be processed deliberately.
Recipients and Processors
Recipients of personal data may include technical service providers, especially hosting providers. The specific hosting provider and any processors should be added before publication.
Data Subject Rights
Data subjects have rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to certain processing. They also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
No Automated Decision-making
No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.
